This policy explains how ON ICE ENTERPRISES (Pty) Ltd ("ICE", "we", "us"), based in Cape Town, South Africa, collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use the ICE app and the icetonight.com website. We process personal information in line with South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
What we collect
- Account details: your email address, used to sign you in with a one-time code, and the display name and profile photo you choose.
- Optional profile details: birth year, gender and home area, only if you choose to provide them.
- Activity in the app: events you save or mark as going, venues and artists you follow, and the people you connect with.
- Location: if you allow it, your device location is used to show what's near you. We don't track your location in the background.
- Usage and device data: basic information about how the app is used and crashes, used to keep it working and improve it.
- Notifications: a push-notification token if you turn notifications on.
How we use it
- To run your account and show you events, venues and what your friends are going to.
- To send reminders and updates you've asked for.
- To keep the service safe, including blocking and reporting tools.
- To understand how ICE is used through aggregated, anonymised statistics. These reports only ever describe groups of people and never identify you.
We ask for your consent before using optional profile details for insights, and we keep a record of the choices you make. You can change them at any time in Settings.
Sharing
We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run ICE (for example hosting, database, email delivery and maps), under agreements that require them to protect it, or when the law requires it. Some of these providers may store data outside South Africa, with appropriate safeguards in place.
Retention
We keep your information while your account is active. Raw activity data is kept for no longer than 13 months. When you delete your account, we delete your personal information and unlink any remaining aggregated statistics from you.
Your rights
You can access, correct or delete your personal information, object to how it's processed, and withdraw consent at any time. You can delete your account directly in the app under Settings, or email us. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Age
ICE is a nightlife service intended for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
